3 Dating Sites that never work

Online dating is a huge industry, but with so many competing services, it can be difficult to figure out which one will be worth your time. Some sites want some cash before they hook you up with anyone, and many others couldn’t find you a date if they tried for a few million years.

In all honesty, you don’t need to go to dating sites that require a monthly fee; the benefits they offer can be found on many free dating sites that have simply replicated their competitors. But the problem is there are a lot of free dating sites that don’t work, basically no matter who you are.

You need to watch out for these stinkers, as they’ll only give you trouble, but there are a lot of them on the Internet. Here are three free datings sites that don’t work, but claim they do.

Up first we have OkCupid, or OKC as the fans call it. OkCupid is a free dating site that offers a lot of great tools and features, such as their seemingly endless amount of questionnaires that help narrow down the dating pool, but while that may seem cool, it won’t necessarily lead to a date.

By answering questions, other users can see how you match up to them; to increase your chances of finding a date, complete as many questionnaires and quizzes as you can. These can actually be kinda fun, and when you first set up your profile and get going, you’ll end up spending a good amount of time on the site.

The topics of these quizzes vary widely, and there are thousands of them for you to complete, with more being added all the time. Some quizzes will ask you about your sexual preferences, while others may ask whether you’d give your partner a second chance after cheating.

Some questionnaires you come across will seem totally of the wall, but answer them to the best of your ability; the more you answer, the more other users will know about you, and your chances of getting a date will increase.

OkCupid isn’t like other free dating sites that may pander to a certain niche, as it’s users vary dramatically. With over 10 million users, it may seem like you have great chances of finding someone suitable, but only a million or so of those users are actually active— the likelihood of you finding a date just got cut by 90 percent!

OKC has some great free tools for finding a date, but with a very limited adult dating pool, you should check other waters.

Another free dating site on a level similar to OkCupid, Plenty of Fish is undoubtedly one of the worst looking dating site you can find. Apparently, the guy who made it spends just a few hours per week making sure the site is functioning, so rest assured, your dating life rests in the hands of a guy who’s clearly got your interests at the forefront of his mind.

When browsing the site, you’ll be hard pressed to find a suitable date. I may sound like a total jerk, but I have to be honest— the users on here are from the lower, lower end of the totem pole.

If you’re a guy like me, there seems to be 10 guys per every girl, so that might tell you this isn’t the best place to find a date.

Don’t believe me? Visit the site.

Because it’s free, you’re bound to get a wide variety of users from all walks of life, but browsing the site you won’t be able to overlook the fact that this is one of the worst places to find a date online; it doesn’t seem like many users have interests or bios like what you’d see on an app such as Coffee Meets Bagel, as they range from horrific to laughable.

On Plenty of Fish, you’re basically on your own when it comes to finding a date, as there is nothing to help you, like the questionnaires on OKC. POF is free, and it’s also terrible.

Finally, we reach the bottom of the garbage bin: Passions Network, a site where you can pick out a certain niche of people you’re interested in, such as mulletpassions.com, which is a real thing for “singles sportin a mullet”. I bet a couple possums have profiles on there.

Obviously this last one is more of a joke, although it’s actually a free dating site. Just about every free dating site you try will bore you and drive you nuts looking for a date, so you might as well stick to Tinder or do it like our parents did and meet someone in real life.

If you have trouble asking people out in person, there are is free dating site that may actually work for you: Coffee Meets Bagel. It’s a site that connects with your Facebook with the intention of hooking you up with one of your friends — basically, it’s a free, online wingman of sorts.

Each day you’re presented with just one potential match, and you have 24 hours to indicate interest in them or not. If you are interested and they’re interested in you as well, a chat session will open up where you can talk and set up a date.

Since the dating pool is composed of your Facebook friends, you won’t be spammed by creepers, and since you may already have met in person, chatting them up shouldn’t be too difficult, even if dating isn’t one of your strengths.

Coffee Meets Bagel purposely limits the amount of matches you get every day (or “bagels” as they’re called) to keep you coming back, but with high-quality matches with people you already know, it shouldn’t take too long before you find a date on CMB.
